Weather Workshop: Short forecast for NZ

Short Forecast valid to midnight tonight:

For the north and west of the North Island from Northland to Taranaki, Areas of rain easing to showers this morning from the west.

Bay of Plenty, the central high country then down to Wellington: Outbreaks of rain until afternoon then a few showers. Heavy falls possible this morning about Bay of Plenty.

Gisborne to Wairarapa: Rain developing this morning then a clearance south of Napier after dark.

Nelson and the South Island West coast: Rain at times with heavy falls this morning about northwest Nelson. Clearing south of the glaciers from evening.

For Marlborough, Canterbury, Otago, and Southland: Rain areas inland spreading elsewhere at times. Snow to the Canterbury foothills overnight to 500 metres. Fine periods increasing from afternoon but low cloud and drizzle likely about southern Southland later.

Chatham Islands: A mix of cloudy and fine periods.
