Short Forecast valid to midnight tomorrow: The north and west of the North Island from Northland to Manawatu, also for the central high country: Showery conditions. A gradual clearance spreading from the south tomorrow.

Bay of Plenty and eastern places from Gisborne to southern Hawkes Bay: Showers spreading from the main ranges at times today. Tomorrow clearing about Bay of Plenty, elsewhere showers more widespread.

Wairarapa and Wellington, also Marlborough: Showers and fine periods.

Nelson: Showers clearing from later today.

South Island west coast: Fine and frosty.

Canterbury: Areas of rain today. Showers clearing from early tomorrow.

Otago and Southland: Becoming fine inland today but showers persisting about the coasts. Mainly fine tomorrow.

Chatham Islands: Rain at times.
