Situation: A high lies over the country today and tomorrow. On Sunday the high weakens and allows a southwest change to spread up the country. Southwesterlies continue to affect most places on Monday. Becoming fine to most places on Tuesday as the high pushes a ridge back onto the country.
NORTHLAND, AUCKLAND, WAIKATO, WAITOMO, TAUMARANUI, TARANAKI, TAIHAPE, WANGANUI and MANAWATU: Mostly fine today and tomorrow. Cloudy at times Sunday and Monday with a few showers possible about the coast and southwest winds. Becoming fine on Tuesday with southeast breezes.
COROMANDEL PENINSULA, BAY of PLENTY/ROTORUA and TAUPO: Mostly fine weather with light winds. Southwesterlies developing on Monday with an increase in cloud. Mainly fine on Tuesday with southeast winds.
GISBORNE, HAWKES BAY and WAIRARAPA: Remaining areas of cloud clearing today. Fine tomorrow. A few showers and southerlies spread north late on Sunday. Showers developing late on Monday. Further showers on Tuesday with southeast winds.
WELLINGTON: Becoming fine today and remaining fine tomorrow. A few brief showers Sunday with southerly winds. A few cloudy periods Monday then late showers. Showers clearing on Tuesday.
NELSON: Mostly fine with southwesterlies dying out today then light winds until Sunday. A few cloudy periods on Monday with late showers and southwesterlies. Becoming fine on Tuesday.
MARLBOROUGH and CANTERBURY: Becoming fine today. Fine tomorrow. A few morning showers clearing on Sunday with southwest winds. Fine at first on Monday then late showers spread north. Becoming fine on Tuesday.
BULLER, WESTLAND and FIORDLAND: Mainly fine today. Cloudy about Fiordland tomorrow but mostly fine elsewhere. A few showers on Sunday and Monday with southwest winds. Becoming fine on Tuesday.
OTAGO and SOUTHLAND: Mainly fine today and tomorrow but a few cloudy periods remain about the south coast. Showers and southwesterlies on Sunday. Showers continuing on Monday then becoming fine on Tuesday.
CHATHAM ISLANDS: Today and tomorrow, a mix of cloud and fine breaks with southwesterlies easing. Showers and southwesterlies redevelop on Sunday and further showers on Monday and Tuesday.
