Workshop:
The Situation: A high over the North Island is drifting eastwards. A northwest flow is developing over the lower South Island.
And now the forecast to midnight tonight:
NORTHLAND, AUCKLAND, COROMANDEL PENINSULA, BAY of PLENTY/ROTORUA, WAIKATO, WAITOMO, TAUPO, TAUMARANUI, TAIHAPE, TARANAKI, WANGANUI and MANAWATU: Mostly fine apart from a few cloudy periods. Light winds to most places.
WELLINGTON: Mainly fine with northerly breezes.
GISBORNE, HAWKES BAY, WAIRARAPA: Mostly fine apart from a few cloudy periods along the main ranges. Light winds.
NELSON and MARLBOROUGH: Mainly fine with light winds.
BULLER, WESTLAND and FIORDLAND: Cloud increasing with patchy rain developing about Fiordland later. Northwest breezes
CANTERBURY: Fine inland. About the coast, a few fog patches clearing this morning and becoming fine. Northeast winds about the coast and northwest breezes inland.
OTAGO and SOUTHLAND: Mainly fine at first. High cloud increasing later. Northwest winds developing.
CHATHAM ISLANDS: Mostly cloudy with the odd shower. Northwest breezes.
THE OUTLOOK FOR TOMORROW: Mainly fine over the North Island but cloud increasing along western areas later. In the South Island, rain on the west coast and extensive high cloud in the east with warm northwesterlies. At the Chatham Islands, a mix of cloud and fine breaks with northwest winds.
