Save The Children on Canterbury Quake

Save the Children New Zealand supports the children and families affected by the Canterbury Earthquake

5 September 2010 - Save the Children New Zealand is making an immediate donation of $10,000 to Christchurch Mayor Bob Parker’s Earthquake Relief Fund.

“Our Children’s Emergency Fund was set up so that we are able to provide immediate funds to support children and families when emergencies strike,” says Liz Gibbs, CEO of Save the Children New Zealand.

“We want to support children and families in Christchurch and the Canterbury region during this emergency situation and we can do so thanks to the many New Zealanders who make regular donations to this fund,” says Ms Gibbs.

“I’m sure that many families and children are still facing a number of uncertainties and I can only imagine how frightening it must have been particularly for children, who are often the most vulnerable during emergencies,” says Ms Gibbs.

The Children’s Emergency Fund was set up by Save the Children at the time of the Haiti Earthquake in January this year and has also sent emergency funds to help the children and families affected by the Pakistan floods.

Donations for the Canterbury earthquake emergency relief can be made to Save the Children in several ways:
