Hutt City offers help to Christchurch
Mayor David Ogden has expressed Hutt City’s sympathy and offered support to the people of Christchurch following the devastating earthquake that struck their region on Saturday morning.
“Our hearts go out to everyone in Christchurch during this difficult time. Hutt City has experienced its own share of natural disasters and we know how scary and overwhelming it can be.
“I have written to Christchurch Mayor Bob Parker to offer any assistance Hutt City might be able to provide in the coming days to help Christchurch get back on its feet.”
Mayor Ogden said the earthquake was a reminder to Hutt City residents and businesses of the importance of being prepared for a natural disaster.
“Tragedies like this can happen anytime and anywhere and people need to be ready – it could be the difference between life and death.”
