Hamilton Mayor launches drop in chats in Garden Place
Mayor launches drop in chats in Garden Place
Tuesday, 25 January 2011
From 2 February Hamiltonians will have regular and open access to their Mayor Julie Hardaker, as the city’s leader launches a regular public chat ‘Mayor in the Square’.
Mayor Hardaker is keen to encourage more public participation in the running of the city. Open drop-in chats already occur in other cities around New Zealand and will begin in Hamilton on 2 February.
“Some of the best ideas come from people who are living their everyday lives in the city. If you have an idea or feedback about Hamilton I want people to have an open opportunity to come down and share it with me,“ Mayor Hardaker says.
Anyone is welcome to drop into Mayor in the Square with dates and times advertised at www.hamilton.co.nz/mayorinthesquare on www.facebook.com/HamiltonNewZealand
The topic for each chat will be left deliberately open so that people will be able to steer the discussion toward things that are of interest to them.
“Here’s a real opportunity really to bring up whatever you are passionate about in Hamilton, directly with me – the Mayor. And I really want to hear what it is you have to say,” Mayor Hardaker says.
The first Mayor in the Square will be held
in front of the Garden Place stage from 12-1pm on 2
February.
