Weather Update Lower Hutt
12.40pm
Properties on Riverside Dr between cross streets Tilbury and Rumgay are being evacuated due to flooding on the Waiwhetu Stream.
Residents should place possessions up high and check on neighbours if possible. Go to families and friends.
If residents have nowhere else to go, the Walter Nash Centre, Taine Street, Taita is open.
HUTT RIVER
Riverbank Car Park is closed as a precaution. People can park in all metered car parks today for free.
ROADS CLOSED
Eastern Hutt Rd closed from north of Stokes Valley roundabout to Silverstream rail bridge due to surface flooding and slips.
State Highway 2 northbound lanes between Ngauranga and Petone are closed due to surface flooding. Southbound remains open for essential travel.
State Highway 58 is closed from Hutt Valley to Plimmerton.
Miromiro Rd is closed due to a slip.
Udy St in Petone is closed.
Harcourt Werry Dr between Taita Dr and Connolly is closed.
HUTT CITY COUNCIL SERVICES
Eastbourne, Moera, Stokes Valley, and War Memorial Libraries are now closed as are both Naenae and Taita Clubhouses.
