Hundreds Of Students Prepare To Gather On The Importance Of A Wealth Mindset Across Auckland Schools

A collaboration of Auckland Schools, Sharesies, GirlBossNZ and inspirational speakers like Maori Millionaire, and What Hope-Wayfinders are gathering to equip High School leavers to navigate career decisions with a wealth mindset in a one-day wānanga on 8 May at Due Drop Events Centre in Manukau.

“This is about ensuring we support our community in making those critical decisions early and giving access to wealth mindsets. We work well with Schools in our community and all have identified how we can support that critical time of transition for school-leavers and getting prepared for that early ” stated Ken Sin, Founder of What Hope.

The inaugural event and first of its kind focused on wealth-building for school leavers is set to host Te Kahukura Boynton the Maori Millionaire, GirlBoss NZ Founder Alexia Hilbertidou, Sharesies NZ and Schools including Manurewa High School, Te Haikura a Kiwa and Alfriston College.

“It’s important to invest in our young people. This event is a collaboration that crosses community, commercial partners, charitable hearts and wealth mindsets with the young people of our community in mind. Our Schools are working really hard to provide career navigation opportunities and are supporting schools and young people with their whanau to navigate their transitions from School with a wealth mindset” Mr Sin stated.

Event objectives

•Empower and inspire Year 13 students as they transition from high school intocareers and adult life.

•Unite all three Manurewa high schools, showing a collective commitment to thefutures of our rangatahi.

•Address the NEET challenge in Manurewa, where 20% of young people aged15–24 are not in education, employment, or training — almost double the widerAuckland rate of 12%.

•Focus on generational wealth and wealth creation, with inspirational speakers and practical workshops equipping students with knowledge, pathways, and confidence to build strong financial futures.

The event is hosted in partnership with Wayfinder, GirlBoss NZ, Manurewa Local Board, Maurewa Youth Council and WhatHope.
