Govt's Emission Trading
Scheme

Following the announcement of the Government's proposed Emissions Trading Scheme Green Party Co-Leader Jeanette Fitzsimons held a press conference to give the Green Party's take on the Govt's proposals.

While the Green Party welcomed the underlying design of the scheme there was a concern from Ms Fitzsimons that the proposals lacked any sense of urgency.
"It is clever, and avoids a lot of fishhooks but it does not reflect the sobering advice of climate scientists that we have just 10 years to put our emissions on a downward path to avoid dangerous levels of warming," said Ms Fitzsimons in a press statement.
