Turia Clears Up Party Vote Misconception

Turia Clears Up Party Vote Misconception

“Whether you’re on the Maori roll or the General roll, the great thing is anyone can give their Party vote to the Maori Party” Tariana Turia says in response to the queries she's had on this issue.

“There has been a lot of non-Maori emailing me and ringing my offices saying that they’d vote for the Maori Party if they could and I’m telling everyone, you can give us your party vote if you want to!. Anyone can give their party vote for the Maori Party and we’re happy that there are a lot of non-Maori who are considering doing so".

“They know we are a safe pair of hands with the track record to prove it".

It is also about being the party that has managed to influence Government- yet at the same time reflect the integrity our people require us to demonstrate. And above all else, we’ve kept our promises.

"The Maori Party want a goverment that values accountability and serving the people, as do a lot of other people out there.

“We want to keep MMP - that’s More Maori in Parliament – that’s got to be good for all New Zealanders.

“At the end of the day I want people to participate, and that means getting out there to vote. Kia kaha tatou te iwi Maori ki te pooti”.
