Labour’s thoughts with Cantabrians
Labour joins with the rest of New Zealand in sending heartfelt thoughts to the people of Christchurch who, at a time when they should be relaxing with family and friends, are once again having to deal with the effects of more earthquakes, Labour leader David Shearer says.
“Cantabrians have suffered so much since the first earthquake in September last year. It must be truly heartbreaking for them.
“Emotions will obviously be raw. I know words really can’t do justice to the traumatic situation these people find themselves in.
“However, we are standing alongside them and will do everything we can to support the Government and local agencies in helping with the on-going recovery process.
“I have been in touch with our Christchurch Labour MPs and they are already working with constituents to do what they can.
“Again, our thoughts are with all those affected by today’s events,” David Shearer said.
