Green Party comment on police staff cuts
“National’s cuts will turn police into paper shufflers,” Green Party police spokesperson David Clendon said today.
“Cutting 125 non-sworn police jobs will inevitably mean police officers spend more time on administration and less time catching criminals.
“New technology is welcome but it will not make up for staffing cuts of this magnitude.
“This move directly undermines the Police’s ‘Prevention First’ strategy, which was meant to see police spending more time engaging with communities and victims,” said Mr Clendon.
