Labour congratulates President Obama
The Labour Leader, David Shearer, has paid tribute to the US President Barack Obama for securing a second term in the Oval Office.
“Barack Obama’s 2008 election victory was an historic moment in US history, and winning a second term is well-deserved.
“The 2012 election was a gripping, closely fought race. The President’s victory is a very special moment for him personally, his family, supporters and the country as a whole.
“The President’s victory speech last night was inspirational. It gave the US and the world hope for the future.
“President Obama has proved a good friend of New Zealand, and relations between our two nations have grown ever stronger under his leadership. We look forward to that warm relationship continuing to flourish,” says David Shearer.
