Key Does the Crime – Thorn Does the Time!

Rt Hon Winston Peters says it is clear that the head of Parliamentary Service has taken the rap for the Prime Minister over the accessing of Fairfax journalist Andrea Vance's phone records.

Mr Thorn resigned today and will leave tomorrow.

“The Prime Minister’s office sent instructions for records to be handed to the Inquiry into the leak of the Kitteridge Report.

“The records were handed over. Few people in the Parliamentary complex would refuse a direction from the Prime Minister – even though it was totally unlawful.

“Mr Thorn has effectively been shafted by the Prime Minister. Does this mean he can’t be called by the Privileges Committee to give evidence in this sorry saga?

“The Prime Minister is too scared to front up. Does this mean another staff member will be thrown to the wolves?” says Mr Peters.
