Voting Papers Flawed; Referendum Should End Now – Peters
The Hindi speaking people have been given the wrong instructions in the flag voting referendum urging them to vote for change and the whole process should end now, says New Zealand First.
“Hindi speaking voters are entirely innocent in this latest manipulative fiasco, but there’s no way the referendum can go on without all their votes being nullified,” says New Zealand First Leader and Member of Parliament for Northland Rt Hon Winston Peters.
“New Zealand is not North Korea or to use an old iron curtain joke ‘thieves broke into the Kremlin last night and stole next year’s election results’.
“New Zealand First MP Mahesh Bindra read the instructions for Hindi speaking people on the information accompanying the ballot papers and he was aghast to see it was completely wrong.
“Mr Bindra said the wording was supposed to read – ‘tick the flag you want to be the New Zealand flag’.
“However, the Hindi words said – ‘tick the flag you want to be the NEW New Zealand flag.’
“This is an attempt to manipulate the vote towards the Prime Minister’s flag.
“It’s appalling influence of the 100,000 Hindi speaking people in New Zealand who are eligible to vote in the referendum.
“The Prime Minister has got some serious explaining to do now,” Mr Peters said.
