Protest in support of Gun shop shooting

Greg Carvell did what any citizen in the same circumstances should legally be able to do when faced with an intruder yelling “Give me the guns or I’ll kill you”. He shot him!

But Greg will appear in the Auckland District Court on Wednesday facing charges that could see him going to jail, and that has got the Sensible Sentencing Trust angry.

The law and order lobby group is vowing to support Mr. Carvell and is organizing a protest to be held outside the court and is vowing to step up the action until the charges are dropped or Greg Carvell is found not guilty.

Trust spokesman Garth McVicar said, “Law abiding citizens must have the legal right to use whatever force necessary to defend their lives and property without fear of prosecution”.

“As violent crime continues to escalate the police are not able to protect us and citizens should not fear prosecution when taking whatever action deemed necessary to stop an attack or an intruder’.

McVicar said, “Criminals now have the upper hand and all the rights and we believe it is time for law-abiding citizens to fight back, Greg Carvell could end up with a criminal conviction and lose his firearms licence for doing what every New Zealander should have a fundamental right to do. The law that allows that is an Ass and we believe it needs to be changed”.

“We encourage people to join us for a peaceful protest and launching of a petition outside the Auckland District Court at 9-30am on Wednesday 6th December”.
