Special voting facilities for 2010 election now available
in Shirley
Special voting facilities for
the Christchurch City Council election are available from
today (23 September) at the Shirley Service Centre, 36
Marshland Road.
Since last week, people have also been
able to cast special votes at the Civic Offices, 53 Hereford
Street and this will continue.
Most
Christchurch and Banks Peninsula residents should have
received their voting papers for the October election by
now. They are encouraged to return their voting papers in
the orange Freepost envelope provided by Wednesday 6 October
to ensure they are received in time for the close of voting
at 12noon on Saturday 9 October.
However, some people may need to cast a special vote. This includes people who:
• are unable to receive their voting papers because their letterbox has been damaged as a result of the earthquake.
• are unable to receive their voting documents because they are staying in temporary accommodation.
• have enrolled to vote since 20 August or who are planning to enrol from now up until Friday 8 October.
• have spoilt or lost their voting papers.
• are on the unpublished electoral
roll.
.
People who have not received their voting
papers yet should contact the Council Call Centre on 941
8999.
