Wellington Mayor expresses sympathy to France
Wellington Mayor Celia Wade-Brown expresses the Capital City's sympathy to the French Ambassador - and our solidarity
HE Laurent Contini
Ambassador of
France
Dear Laurent
My sympathies on the awful attack on Charlie Hebdo satirical magazine. I really abhor violence and it will never kill free speech, free gathering , satire, humour, whether sophisticated or simple. Words and laughter last longer and will outlive narrow-minded brutality against innocent people.
We also stand proudly in our multicultural tolerant capital and wish your capital city all safety and sympathy in the days and years ahead.
Ngā mihinui ki a kōe
Mes sympathies et salutations chaleureuses à vous
Celia
