New
Grouup Claims Responsibility For Bomb Blasts
The
Whole Burma United Revolutionary Front (WBURF) -
a previously unknown organisation - has claimed
responsibility for Tuesday's twin bomb blasts in Rangoon.
Both blast sites were killing fields during the People
Power uprising in 1988, when thousands of unarmed monks and
civilians were shot dead by the military.
The explosions
were timed to coincide with the anniversary of late General
Ne Win's 1962 coup d'etat. The coup toppled the
democratically elected government, lead by charismatic Prime
Minister U Nu.
The fledgling WBURF group said it
would not accept the proposed 2010 general
election, which would only serve to prolong
the repressive military rule of
Burma.
