Second Opportunity For Sport Funding

Manukau City Council is pleased to advise that a second funding round is being held for the Hillary Commission Community Sport Fund in 2001.

Seminars, uniforms, equipment, holiday programmes and coaching clinics were all items that received funding in the last round. Anyone involved in sport can apply for their sport, fitness and physical leisure projects.

Fund Administrator, Diana Pratchett says that the first priority for funding is training for volunteers – coaches, referees, administrators, etc., with the second priority given to new initiatives, promotion of the club to build on existing membership, or the purchase of equipment vital to an activity. Applications close on Monday, 6 August at 4pm.

A public information seminar will be held on Tuesday 24 July at 6pm in the Puhinui Room at Manukau’s Civic Centre. Registration is not required and there is no charge. Sports coaches, management and players are encouraged to come along and learn about the scheme, and to discuss the application form and how to complete it.
