One Tree Hill Planting Update
28 August 2001
Auckland City’s consultation with local iwi is continuing on the choice of date for planting new trees on the One Tree Hill summit.
Parks and Recreation Committee chair Bill Christian says no firm date will be set for the planting, until the discussions with iwi have been completed.
“This will be a significant planting for all Aucklanders,” said Councillor Christian.
The appeal period following the council’s application for resource consent for the planting ends today, he said.
To date no appeals have been received and on this basis consultation is continuing with local iwi on the logistics of the planting which is set to take place some time in September.
