Manukau Skate Park Opens by Showcasing Skating Talent
Manukau City Council has just completed the largest skate park in the City and officially opens it on 9th March.
Located at the corner of Ronwood Ave and Davies Way in the central city, the skate park features a volcano surf bank, taco bowl, wedges, fun boxes and rails.
The public opening by Mayor Sir Barry Curtis will be held at 9.30am.
Following the ceremony, local skateboard shop, Cheapskates Manukau, will celebrate this dynamic new facility by holding a skate competition. The event will be kicked off by a skate demo by hot local skaters.
Billed as the South Auckland Skateboarding Championships, local skaters are encouraged to compete for cash prizes in the open or under 16 divisions. Enrolments start at 10am with the contest beginning at 11am. Skater goodies and spot prizes will be awarded.
The New Zealand Boost Mobile Skate team will feature and Nick Lister who recently completed in the World Cup will be there showing off his style.
