Changes To Puhinui Traffic Diversion

Transit New Zealand advises that from Wednesday (27 November) there will be changes to the traffic diversion near the Puhinui roundabout and, where possible, asks motorists to consider alternative routes.

Southbound traffic travelling between Mangere Bridge and Manukau City will be transferred off State highway 20 and onto the traffic diversion that has been operating for northbound traffic since October.

All movements will still be possible on the diversion where the speed limit is 70km/hr. Delays are expected, particularly during peak periods and to avoid these motorists are advised to use alternative routes.

Scheduled for completion by the end of 2003, the diversion is part of Transit’s Puhinui interchange project which will provide a full-grade intersection separating traffic on State highway 20 from local traffic on Puhinui Road.

An important link in the Auckland region’s Western Ring Route, the interchange will aim to reduce excessive delays and congestion, as well as reduce the number of accidents in the area.
