Stanley Street Diversion This Weekend
Stanley Street Diversion This Weekend
Intensive work on the Grafton Gully motorway project requires the temporary closure of the Churchill Street diversion from Stanley Street on Saturday 1 February, Sunday 2 February and at night from Monday 3 February to Wednesday 5 February. Traffic on Stanley St heading towards Beach Road will be redirected to continue along Stanley Street and Ronayne Street before entering Beach Road.
However, construction activities will not impact on traffic movements along Alten Road which will remain accessible from Stanley Street. Motorists will continue to be able to use Alten Road to access Churchill Street.
Transit New Zealand Regional Manager Wayne McDonald appreciates the co-operation from motorists and explains that the temporary closure of the Churchill St diversion is necessary to allow drainage works, in preparation for the opening of the new northbound motorway alignment in late February.
The detour will be clearly sign-posted and is scheduled to be in effect from Saturday morning to Sunday night, and throughout the night from Monday to Wednesday.
The work is being carried out as part of the Grafton Gully motorway project. Further information is available from the public information centre at the corner of Stanley St & Alten Rd or by phoning 0800 ToFreeflow (0800 863 733).
