Khyber Pass On-ramp closure
Khyber Pass On-ramp closure
Transit New Zealand advises all road users that from 6pm Saturday 15 March until midday Sunday 16 March, the Khyber Pass on-ramp and the extreme left hand southbound motorway lane between Khyber Pass and Gillies Ave will be closed for works on the Maungawhau Road Bridge.
The closures are required to allow work, including concrete pours, to take place on the Maungawhau Bridge. The Gillies Ave off-ramp will remain open to southbound traffic despite the closure of the auxiliary lane on the motorway.
During the concrete pour, Maungawhau Road will be reduced to single-lane operation to allow access for concrete trucks. Traffic management will be in place at all times to direct traffic through the area.
Motorists are requested to use alternative on-ramps during closures and avoid the area as much as possible. Transit also reminds motorists to drive carefully past road works and be mindful of signs.
In case of inclement weather, the works will be carried out on the following weekend, 22/23 March.
The work is part of Stage 1 (Khyber Pass to Gillies Ave) of the Central Motorway Junction upgrading project which, when completed, will improve the efficiency, safety and access of the junction.
