Night Closures for motorway lane and on-ramp
Night Closures for motorway lane and on-ramp
Transit New Zealand advises that from Monday 5 May 2003, the southbound Khyber Pass on-ramp and a motorway lane will be closed at night for approximately four weeks.
The on-ramp and the left southbound lane - on a 400-metre section between Khyber Pass and Gillies Ave - will be closed every day from late evening until 6 am.
The closures are necessary as part of the widening of the Khyber Pass viaduct and also to carry out essential drainage works for stormwater treatment on the motorway.
The work is part of stage 1 of Transit New Zealand’s Central Motorway Junction upgrading project, which incorporates the future widening of the motorway. Activity during the closures will include the installation of brackets on the viaduct, trenching along the motorway and pipe laying.
Rock excavations may also be required. Noise reduction measures and traffic management will be in place at all times.
Transit asks motorists to drive carefully
past road works and to be mindful of signals. For more
