Partial closure of Almorah Road
Auckland Regional Office
Date 16 July 2003
TRAFFIC BULLETIN
Partial closure of Almorah Road
From Monday, 21 July, a section of Almorah Road in Newmarket will be closed. A 50-metre section from the Maungawhau Road intersection towards Gilgit Road will be closed to traffic until mid 2004. This closure is necessary to allow motorway widening work and the construction of retaining walls.
Pedestrian access through this area will not be affected.
During the closure there will be no direct vehicle access between Almorah Road and Maungawhau Road. Detours will be clearly signposted, and motorists are advised to use Mountain Road, Khyber Pass Road, and/or Gillies Avenue as alternatives.
Transit asks motorists to drive carefully past road works, and to be mindful of signs and other traffic management measures.
The work is part of Stage 1 (Symonds Street to Gillies Ave) of the Central Motorway Junction upgrading project which, when completed, will improve the efficiency, safety and access of the junction.
For more information about the project, visit the project information centre at the corner of Stanley Street & Alten Road, phone 0800 ToFreeflow (0800 863 733) or visit the Transit website www.transit.govt.nz.
