PAM General Aerial Operation On Today

Painted Apple Moth General Aerial Operation On Today ¨C Thursday, 18 December

The general aerial operation, against the painted apple moth, is ON today ¨C Thursday, 18 December.

During summer, general aerial operations take place in 5 small high-risk areas ¨C Hobsonville, Ranui/Swanson, Riverpark, Waikumete Cemetery and Motions/Meola Creek - covering in total less than 1,000 hectares.

A small aircraft will carry out treatments in these areas at approximately 21-day intervals. At the same time a helicopter will treat the two difficult areas within Ranui/Swanson and Riverpark.

As a guide, given favourable weather and the completion of an operation in a single day then it is highly likely that:

¡ñ Hobsonville and Motions/Meola Creek will be treated first starting at approximately 5.30 am.

¡ñ Waikumete Cemetery then Ranui/Swanson then Riverpark will follow.

¡ñ During the school term, even though the aircraft may be in the air, there will
be NO treatment between 8am and 9am as children travel to school.

¡ñ Treatment in the helicopter areas within Ranui/Swanson and Riverpark will start and finish before 8am.

¡ñ All treatments will be completed by mid morning.

To check on the status of a general aerial operation people can listen to MoreFM (91.8FM) or Newstalk ZB (1080AM). The public can also call the free information line 0800 96 96 96 for details or visit the residents¡¯ page online at www.maf.govt.nz/paintedapplemoth to register for email or text message updates.

A map of the summer operation area and up-to-date information about the painted apple moth eradication programme is also available on the website.
