“Paws in the Park day of doggone fun in Upper Hutt

“Paws in the Park”- A day of doggone fun in Upper Hutt! Free activities for dogs and owners of all shapes and sizes.

Paws in the Park is being held at Tunnel Gully Recreation Area in Upper Hutt on Sunday 22 Feb 2004 from 11am to 2pm. Located to the right off State Highway 2, north of the City at the far end of Plateau Road .

A great opportunity for dogs to bring their owners along and explore the beautiful forest along Tanes Track. There will be a quiz along the walkway featuring pictures of famous dogs that participants will have to identify. Great prizes to be won.

Following the walk, Central Search Dog Rescue will put their dogs through their paces along with the Upper Hutt Dog Training School with obedience and agility displays. There will be a retrieval competition open to dogs of all ages with a prize-giving to finish off the afternoons activities!

Greater Wellington Regional Council and Upper Hutt City Council are organising this event to promote sensible dog ownership and behaviour, as well as some exercise and fun for both dogs and owners.

City Promotion Manager Paul Lambert says the response from local Veterinary Clinics to donate prizes for the event has been outstanding.

The day’s events expect to draw crowds of over 150 dogs and owners.

All dogs must be on leads!

Bring a packed lunch, drinks and plastic bags.
