Meeting To Reactivate Mahia & Dist. Tourism Group
PRESS RELEASE - MARCH 18, 2004
MEETING TO REACTIVATE TOURISM GROUP
A meeting is being convened to restart the Mahia and Districts Tourism Group Inc, which has been inactive for some months.
The organisation has a history of over a decade, and in its heyday was successful in promoting and marketing the Mahia and Morere areas. It later broadened its membership area to cover the whole Wairoa District, including Waikaremoana and Wairoa town.
When some of the leaders became unavailable to continue in their roles the organisation effectively went into recess. Now, however, interested parties have called a special general meeting to be held at Wairoa's Gaiety Theatre on the evening of March 30, and members approached for comment see this as an opportunity for the organisation to move forward positively.
Organisers expect a good turnout, not only of tourism operators, but of anyone interested in promoting the Wairoa District.
