RAM asks ARC to convene a People's Assembly
The following resolution was passed unanimously at four public meetings, in Mt Eden, Papatoetoe, Meadowbank and Sunnynook, held this past weekend (27-28 March).
RESOLUTION "This public meeting supports RAM¹s proposal that the ARC¹s Annual Plan:
(1) Reverses last year¹s rises in residential rates.
(2) Restores the business differential.
(3) Takes a public stand against the Eastern Motorway. And this meeting asks the ARC to convene a People¹s Assembly, embracing a wide range of grassroots organisations, to debate the draft Annual Plan before it¹s voted on by councillors."
The four meetings were hosted by RAM - Residents Action Movement.
"In line with this resolution, RAM has offered to help the ARC convene a People's Assembly to debate the draft Annual Plan," said RAM spokesperson Grant Morgan.
RAM has sent an email to ARC chair Gwen Bull and all ARC councillors containing our offer to help convene a People's Assembly.
