Upper Hutt does well in Wellington Sports Awards
Upper Hutt sports people were well represented at night's Wellington Sports Awards and collected two of the winning categories. The Upper Hutt Sports Awards held 6 weeks ago are modelled on Wellington with all winners nominated to those awards. Grant McCarrol, softball's Black Sox Manager won Administrator of the year and being first up started what was a big night for softball. McCarrol is a physical trainer at Trentham Army Camp.
18 year old Todd Hammington is excelling at Karate .He was Upper Hutt Sportsperson of the year and won Emerging Sportsperson for the Wellington Region against top competition. The Hutt Valley was well represented with new All Black Captain's Tana Umunga mother from Wainuiomata collecting the Fairplay Award on his behalf.
