Surviving the School Holidays

It's winter and the school holidays are approaching. The question of how to keep your children occupied arises. Never fear Manukau City Council has the answer, particularly if the weather is wet.

Council's Manukau on the Move's Hall programme for 5 - 12 year olds offers a huge range of fun and affordable activities to keep youngsters entertained during the week 5th - 9th July.

Programme Co-ordinator, Keryn Dudley, says, "Just because it's winter, doesn't mean children have to watch television or play computer games all day. This exciting Hall Programme will inspire children and add interest to wet cold days. Beginning on Monday 5th they can develop their artistic skills at Beachlands Hall with clay painting and craft and much more. They can make crazy containers, cookies and loads more yummy treats at 'Crazy Cooking' on Tuesday at Maraetai Hall, and take their PJs and have lots of fun at a Pyjama Party on Wednesday.

Participants can bring their own skates and show off their expertise, or learn a new skill at the Super Skating Trip at Paradice Ice Rink on Thursday, and finally children can round off the week at Beachlands Hall with 'Friday Movie Mania' of videos, accompanied by popcorn and a shared lunch".

Programmes run from 10am - 3pm daily and events cost $15, except for ice skating which is $30 and the pick up and drop off point for this is the Beachlands Hall. For all other events meet at the venues listed above.
