Have Your Say In Shaping Manukau City’s Future
Consultation on the review of Tomorrow’s Manukau enters its second week. Council’s Manager of Strategic Policy and Advocacy, Stella Ford says “This is a chance for everybody to have a say on how they wish their city to develop. It is essential that we get as many points of view as possible.”
Tomorrow’s Manukau is the ten year plan guiding the city’s growth and development.
Stella Ford says, “A city’s growth and its living environment are not determined by the Council alone. There are many other agencies and community groups with a role to play. The consultation is the perfect opportunity for residents to voice their opinions to Council, community groups and agencies such as Work and Income New Zealand and Counties Manukau District Health Board who provide services and opportunities to Manukau.
“People are telling us that they want to maintain the unique characteristics of their town centres. That is the key message from our first week of consultations. Manukau is recognised as one of New Zealand’s most diverse cities. It is essential that this is reflected in our planning so that we can meet the unique demands and issues facing the city.”
For residents who are unable to make the scheduled meetings, survey forms are available on the internet at www.tomorrowsmanukau.co.nz or from all Manukau libraries.
