Council Plan Committee recommends 5.2% rates increase
Manukau City Council’s Plan Committee met last night to consider the 2005/06 draft Annual Plan.
The Committee have made a recommendation to Council for a 5.2% rates rise. For the first time this includes the introduction of user charges for the city’s swimming pools.
Chair of the Council Plan Committee Councillor William Sio says, “I am extremely happy with the level of debate that led us to achieve what I believe is a robust recommendation to Council”.
The recommendation will be heard and voted on at a special meeting of Council on the 23 March. From there the draft Plan will be adopted.
“I would like to remind residents that they will have the opportunity to play a part in the Annual Plan process when the draft Plan is released for public submission in early April”, says Councillor Sio.
