Housing Forum Called for Glen Innes
Housing Forum Called for Glen Innes
The Tamaki
Community Board is holding a forum to discuss community
concerns about proposed changes to the District Plan, which
could lead to a spurt of high density housing development in
Glen Innes.
The open meeting will be held at 6pm, Monday 13th of June at the Glen Innes Community Centre. Residents are invited to meet with Council officers and Community Board members to discuss the changes.
Plan Change 61 and Residential 8 Zoning proposals in the City Council’s draft plan would see the maximum allowed building height in residential areas increased from two to three storeys.
The number of dwellings allowed on each property would also be raised.
“We are holding this forum in response to public concern over the changes and urge anyone who feels they may be affected to attend,” said Deputy Chairperson Kate Sutton.
The issues that the public are raising about the change have not yet been adequately addressed by the Council, according to Sutton. “We also feel that while there has been vocal opposition by some parts of the community to the changes, we are unsure as to how widespread that unhappiness may be in the wider community.”

8 zoned areas to Residential
