Qualified Directors Sought

The search for directors for Tomorrow’s Manukau Properties Limited is drawing to a close. Council began its search for suitably qualified directors three weeks ago so that Tomorrow’s Manukau Properties would its start its life with a top team.

“With applications closing next week on 21 June we need to be sure those with appropriate qualifications have seen the ads or read the articles and thought about applying” said Strategy Manager Rod Sara.

“It is an interesting and not a common mix of qualifications and experience we are looking for. Beyond the obvious mix of governance, urban development and senior commercial experience, an awareness of the demands of the local government environment is essential.”

The company is being set up to be a successful business, and it needs to act with commercial acumen and within business disciplines to achieve the optimum community outcomes possible through the development of the town centre.

“The Flat Bush development is not merely a shopping centre or a suburban development as some have portrayed,” said Mr Sara. “It is a once in a lifetime opportunity to develop a community through smart urban design and appropriate amenities.”

If Manukau people believe they have the skills to meet this challenge on behalf of the city they should contact the Council before the close of business Tuesday 21 June.
