Sponsors Opportunity with Elements Festival

Sponsors Opportunity with Elements Festival

Porirua’s successful Festival of the Elements has some remaining sponsorship opportunities for businesses and organisations for the 2006 Festival in February.

Coordinator Margaret Armour says there is also a ‘naming right’ opportunity currently being offered for a ‘substantial’ sponsorship for the Fireworks Spectacular that will end the 2006 Festival on Waitangi Day.

“The Festival of the Elements, celebrating cultural diversity through the Arts, is well patronised by people from throughout the Wellington region. So sponsorship support for the Festival is an opportunity for ‘corporate’ Porirua and other local businesses to raise their profile, and at the same time give something back to the community,” Ms Armour says.

The Festival of the Elements is organised by the Porirua Community Arts Council.

“The festival is put together on sponsorship, and it is free to the public. Anything that is left over goes back into the next Festival. So any donation or sponsorship from business is put to good use,” Ms Armour says.

“Most of the Festival organisation is undertaken by volunteers. It is a massive effort that begins pretty well as soon as one Festival is over. We have our debriefing the week after each festival. We wrap up and report back to our sponsors, and within weeks we’ve booked most of the infrastructure for the coming year,” Ms Armour says.

“All our sponsors and supporters are publicly identified and thanked through the Festival’s extensive marketing campaign.”

Ms Armour says that this year major sponsors also will be acknowledged on the Festival’s new official website, launched last month at www.elementsfestival.co.nz

“Each year the Festival of the Elements becomes more successful, and more widely known as a major Waitangi Day event for New Zealand,” Ms Armour says.

“One of its strengths is its all-inclusive nature, and its high level of community involvement. We’re attracting all ages and people from right across the greater Wellington community. We’re now even beginning to attract tourists and summer visitors from other NZ regions.”

Ms Armour says the Festival is also attracting increasing media interest.

“Last year the Festival was covered by television, radio and newspapers. The 2005 Festival in February secured television coverage on both TV1 and TV3 news bulletins, both of which reflected back extremely positively on our City.”
