Council approves
tender for library redevelopment
Auckland City has approved Fletcher Construction Co. Limited's tender to undertake the redevelopment of the Central City Library.
The tender will cost Auckland City $1,253,092 excluding GST and an additional $250,000 contingency outside of the construction contract has also been approved by council.
Construction is expected to start in November and be completed by April 2006.
The group manager of Auckland City Libraries, Alison Dobbie, says: "We are really excited that we can get on with the job now. For some time our customers have said they'd like a cafe in the library so we're looking forward to our customers experiencing a new café, a better library entrance, better shelving and collection layout, and a new casual news media zone."
