Waikatere: User Pays Proposal for Inorganic waste
Citizens Against Privatisation.
Press Statement.
User Pays Proposal for Inorganic waste, outrageous.
Public MEETING TO OPPOSE this and other WCC measures to be organised in the New Year.
This proposal is the latest in a series of attacks against our public services. User Pays penalises residents who can least afford to pay for essential services, in this case Pensioners, Tenants and the average income majority.
For example, renters would incur these charges; will their rents go down as a result? We don¹t think so.
It seems Team West Councilors are actively promoting a blatant bureaucratic agenda that seeks to introduce user pays for waste water, Privatise Techscape (ex council works department), sell off pensioner housing and close Te Atatu South library. Their ambivalent attitude to cell phone masts is also a huge concern.
All these strands will be brought together at our public meeting. Its time to get active and angry, before our community is pushed into extreme poverty. This is pure new right agenda stuff. We must stop it.
