Have your say on Mt Roskill's proposed skate park

Auckland City is calling for feedback from Mt Roskill residents on the proposed design for a skate park in the area.

The council is planning to build a skate park at the May Road entrance of War Memorial Park in place of the current fitness trail.

The proposed design incorporates skating features as well as a new half basketball court to provide for a multi-sport, street-like environment.

Project manager, Mairi Smith, encourages local youths and residents to have their say on the proposed design.

"We are committed to providing skate facilities that meet the needs of the city's youth. Leisure and recreation activities have positive benefits for the community as a whole, therefore we value their feedback to make sure we are on the right track," says Ms Smith.

Auckland City would like feedback from potential users of the park on the proposed design before 24 February 2006.

Comments can be made by calling the Auckland City call centre on (09) 379 2020 and requesting a freepost comment card, or on the Auckland City website, www.aucklandcity.govt.nz/projects
