Christcurch Meets Miami
Red Carpet Movie Tickets Go on Sale

Tickets to the highly-anticipated, red carpet film premiere of a Christchurch film are set to go on sale on Wednesday the 8th of March.

Christchurch will be on parade on the red carpet when 'Meet Me In Miami' has its NZ premiere on March 22nd.

The black tie, red carpet event will showcase the romantic comedy film that was 80% shot in Christchurch. The premiere is Christchurch's only independent international film to be released this year.

The night is being dubbed as a "whose who" of Christchurch celebrities. 8 MPs, City Councillors, Christchurch's elite business people and members of the public will get to walk the red carpet with the film's stars, cast and crew.

An event where the paparazzi are descending on Christchurch in full force, over 80 media both locally and nationally will be present for the film that had it's world premiere in Hollywood late last year to initial positive feedback. The Kiwi film has featured on elite Hollywood TV show 'Entertainment Tonight'.

The film's producer, Lisa Abbott, a Christchurch housewife and mother of four children says that she is delighted that the event is showing early signs of being so well supported.

"It's just a great opportunity to showcase New Zealand and the beautiful city of Christchurch and put New Zealand up on the big screen. The Christchurch locations just really add to the romance of the film. We are fortunate to live in such a pretty country," says Lisa Abbott.

Making the family-friendly film was a combined family effort. Lisa's husband David Abbott from Surtout Jewellers added his bling business skills to the project by acting as the movie's executive producer. Lisa's daughter Brooke Abbott, a 13 year-old Christchurch schoolgirl, acted as the young lead in the film.

The event supports dyslexia awareness in conjunction with the Cookie Munchers Charitable Trust and The John Britten Learning Centre.

Over 25% of all children are effected in some way by dyslexia and early detection can be easily corrected by learning techniques that aid symbols and numbers recognition.

John Britten's widow and glamorous Christchurch socialite Kirsteen Britten will speak at the star-studded event about the learning disability that affects so many creative New Zealanders.

The night will showcase international and local actresses wearing Christchurch fashion houses Blonde Red, 102 Design and Plush on the red carpet with jewellery by Surtout.

Tickets go on sale on Wednesday the 8th March at Surtout Jewellers, Christchurch and Hoyts Riccarton Theatre at $75 pp. Tickets are expected to sell out fast.
