Wellington Region Battle of the Bands -Thursday 19 October
Maidstone Intermediate School is hosting 17 entries in this year's Battle of the Bands for the Wellington Region on Thursday 19 October at the school from 9 am to 2.30 pm .As winners last year they have worked hard to stage this year's event with great support from sponsors and judges.Organiser from Maidstone Intermediate Ms Kerry Baines says the students have practised hard on both original and existing songs for their 8 minute sets.Talents for overall winners and individual performances such as vocalists, drummers and guitarists will be rewarded with prizes at the end of the day.
The music produced each year is of a high standard.Award winning songwriting Wayne Mason judges last year but is currently on tour but well known singer Steve Brattle of Jo Cocker fame is helping with judging this year.
Schools from all over the Wellington Region are taking part.
Results are due around 2.30 pm
