Torere to be publicly notified
At last night’s Manukau City Council meeting Councillors decided to publicly notify the resource consent to rebuild the fire-damaged Te Whare o Torere in the Emilia Maud Nixon Garden of Memories in Howick.
The Council also agreed that the Honourable Peter Salmon QC be appointed as an independent commissioner to hear and determine the application.
The decision follows many months of deliberation and debate by Councillors on a project which has attracted a high-level of public interest.
As Council is the applicant for the resource consent and owner of the land on which the proposed works will be constructed, an independent commissioner will ensure that the application is processed in a transparent manner.
