Councillor Urges Go See – An Inconvenient Truth
Otara’s Manukau City Councillor, Su’a William Sio, is urging everyone to go see the movie ‘An Inconvenient Truth’.
Through this powerful medium, former USA Vice President Al Gore takes viewers through layer, by layer, of persuasive arguments about what is global warming, from the available scientific evidence, to the who, the how, and why doubt is cast on the truth, to what is our current climatic & environmental situation, and what part can we all play in protecting the future of our planet earth.
Councillor Sio says he doesn’t normally endorse movies, but the message of this one is simply too powerful and too relevant to let it lie.
“It is a powerfully enlightening movie and I hope that everyone will get out and see it,” Councillor Sio says. “Every parent and teenager will come away from the movie feeling challenged.”
“I especially believe that this is a movie for young people and future leaders.”
“I came away believing that we have an approximate 50 year timeframe of a window of opportunity in which we either change our attitudes, our lifestyles, and our political will, in order to improve our environment, or we can do as we’ve always done, and that is simply just watch the weather change.”
“I believe that all future leaders of families, communities and nations ought to have the information provided by this movie.”
“We must all put away our doubts and act on protecting our planet & our environment.”
