Report of supposed
council contribution to Eden Park upgrade
surprising
Manukau Mayor Sir Barry Curtis says he is
surprised at the figures which have been released publicly
about the financial contribution that councils in the
Auckland region are expected to make towards upgrading Eden
Park.
“I can say on behalf of the Manukau City Council that we have not agreed to pay a share of $75 million, as reported in the Herald today.
“No decision has been made in that regard, and we have not formally discussed the matter of whether we will contribute funding, and if so how much.
“Many proposals are being put forward for a new sports stadium for Auckland but no final decision has yet been made. When a final proposal is reached, with appropriate funding sources outlined, Manukau City Council will then examine it and determine a response.”
