Auckland City Nets the 07 Netball World Champs
Auckland City Welcomes Auckland Netting the 2007 World Netball Championships
Auckland City Mayor Dick Hubbard is wrapt that IFNA has announced today that Auckland will host the 2007 World Netball Championships.
“It’s fantastic that Auckland has won the toss to host this world class netball event,” says Mr Hubbard.
“The Auckland region is home to 25,630 registered netball players, representing 20 per cent of New Zealand’s total.
“Auckland City recognises the hugely important role netball plays in our community and is excited about showing our passion for the game to the world.
“Great events promote our city locally, nationally and internationally as a place to live, work and visit. They bring economic benefits and international profile to our city and make people feel they’re part of a city they can be proud of.
“Auckland City is looking forward to working with our other partners in the Auckland region to deliver a successful and memorable event for players, their support staff, spectators and the New Zealand public.”
“This event is a great way to celebrate our country’s enthusiasm for netball and will also be a good warm up for Auckland in preparation for the 2011 Rugby World Cup,” says Mr Hubbard.
