Meeting Tonight About Paekakariki Killing Ground
There’s a big community meeting tonight to tell the roading agencies that action must be taken now to end deaths and injuries on Paekakariki’s “killing ground”.
Paekakariki Community Board chairman Adrian Webster, says this is the name which Dr Chris Lane of Kapiti Emergency Medical Services gives the stretch of SH1 through the village.
“The meeting is being chaired by Porirua regional councillor Margaret Shields, the former Kapiti MP and Paekakariki resident,” said Mr Webster.
He said that the meeting will be attended by both Transit NZ and Land Transport NZ and all the other agencies will be represented: local MP Hon. Luamanuvao Winnie Laban, the Mayor Alan Milne, some KCDCouncillors, Kapiti Regional Councillor Chris Turver, GWRCouncil Deputy Chair Terry McDavitt, Dr Chris Lane, NZ Police and Fire Services.
Mr Webster said that the public meeting is a lead in to a meeting with the Minister of Transport Hon. Annette King on 15 February.
