6 down, 20 FREE concerts to go for Shore Sounds ’07!
WEEKEND REVIEW: Good Weather – terrible weather – this weekend had it all! Shore Sounds ’07 relaunch was a magical and sunny afternoon. Having seen the original concert cancelled two weeks earlier due to bad weather Takapuna Beach was more than ready for two of New Zealand’s finest pop icons Anika Moa and Don McGlashan. It doesn’t get much better than this was the consensus from the 1000+ crowd with many swimming whilst listening to the show – where else is that possible in such a stunning location we ask you? The two headliners performed brilliantly, Moa solo and McGlashan with full band – what a treat Takapuna! Devonport’s Windsor Reserve hosted two concerts on Sunday 28th January. The second Solo Sunday’s concert held between 2-4pm featuring Matt Mitchinson and Sarah Spicer was bathed in beautiful sunshine whilst the evening’s Harbourside Party wasn’t so lucky. Following a fantastic aerial display by the ‘Red Checkers’ the large crowd persevered through a few heavy downpours with rainbows decorating the heavens. In the end however it all got too much and whilst Powerplay showband entertained brilliantly everyone was totally drenched and the show was called off – come on New Zealand weather give us a chance!
